 2011 Tea Pointers

Is Daley a move to the right for Obama?  I wince every time I hear a talking head blathering about Obama moving to the right by his choice of William Daley for chief of staff.  William Daley, son and brother of long-time mayors of Chicago, is a Chicago Political Machine insider.  If he wasn’t related to two mayors of Chicago, would he have become an executive of a large national bank?  He is not a businessman; he is the implanted representative who makes sure that the “machine” gets its homage and its wishes heard.  When you think of Chicago, do you think of limited government, low taxes and a booming economy?  President Obama is camouflaging his continued lurch to the left behind a faux businessman.

Some Tea Party Resolutions for 2011.  The 2010 election was a good start but there are fierce battles looming and we will need to be strong and energetic in 2011.  It’s time to be more active and engaged.    Talk with your friends, co-workers and neighbors to spread the tea party spirit by sharing the critical information and views not reported by the major media.   Get more involved with your local tea party organizations, start a neighborhood or local tea party group if none exists.  Don’t fall for the phony calls for bi-partisanship and cooperation; compromise with the big government types is still growing the government and stealing your freedom.  It’s time to defeat them and return to limited government.  Let your representatives know what you want and that you are watching; regularly call, write, fax and e-mail them at their capital and local offices.    Vote in all the off year elections such as the school board elections and tell all your friends.  Start preparing to own the 2012 primary because candidates will begin their campaigns this year and the good ones will need your support right away.  Continue to be positive, the Tea Party Movement is at least twice as popular as the Republicans or the Democrats.

Abusing power through bureaucratic regulators.  To seize control of the energy sector, power-hungry, unelected governmental bureaucrats utilize vague laws, willing accomplices in the media, and the sweet nectar of good intentions.  The EPA proclaims its responsibility to regulate carbon dioxide emitted by industry is for the protection of the public good.  No mention is made of carbon dioxide’s role as a vital, life-sustaining gas or the natural buffering ability of Planet Earth.  EPA takes action without the direct sanction of elected legislators in Congress.  The global warming hoax perpetuated by academics resulted not from dispassionate science but from the cottage industry funded by taxpayers through generous government grants and the associated adoration of the media.  Activist judges, appointed for life with little accountability to the citizens, provided “fig leaf” coverage via constitutionally-murky legal proclamations.  Now bitter EPA partisans assert sweeping control over critical energy and manufacturing sectors solely relying upon carbon dioxide regulation and global warming hysteria--all without the direct vote of our elected officials.  Why is it so difficult to build power plants or heavy manufacturing facilities in the US?  What is the impact of all this upon the ability of the private sector to create jobs?  How long will we be a free people when such centralized authority is so brazenly unleashed by unelected government officials?

FCC power grab.  The Federal Communication Commission has ignored Congress and the Courts to announce that they are going to regulate the internet.  Let’s suggest another outcome for the FCC.  The FCC was started with the passage of the Communications Act of 1934.  Let’s push Congress to slash the FCC by 95% and free the airways of these busybodies.  The country will only need a small office to keep records of those who own the rights to the spectra and frequencies that have been auctioned and another small office to work on the international issues.  The 17 offices and bureaus can be cut down to just one.  This is a perfect example of for one small way to achieve less government and more freedom.

Lower Tax Bandwagon.  President Obama and many of his fellow Democrats have become supply-side Reaganomics supporters when they openly said that tax increases will do harm to the economy as their justification to extend the Bush era tax rates.   This validates from the left that lower taxes help the private sector and will grow the economy.   The associated corollary is that higher taxes support big government and harm the economy.  Now the administration and their minion are trying to confuse these actions with contrary statements but their actions tell the real story.   Just remember when this debate comes up again, the very progressive President Obama had to admit that higher taxes are bad for business and that massive government spending does not work to turn around the economy.

$1.2 Trillion Omnibus Bill – R.I.P.  The Democrats thought they could sneak in a massive spending bill during the lame duck session that would usurp the budget power of the incoming Congress into September of 2011.  It was loaded with pork barrel spending and a billion or so to seed the Obamacare bureaucracy.  The citizens were paying attention and the Republicans held strong for a change.  If this kind of spending was popular, the Dems would have passed it before the election and not try a sneaky lame duck session ploy.  Freedom demands constant vigilance.

Global Warming Punch Line.  If you still doubt that the Global Warming proponents are scamming and hoaxing you, keep reading.  The United Nations International Panel for Climate Change and their climatologist accomplices are meeting at a beautiful resort in Cancun, Mexico.  They have floated a plan to save the world from spontaneously combusting due to carbon dioxide emissions (keep in mind that carbon dioxide is a vital, life-sustaining gas).  This plan is simple; the people of the wealthy western countries should adopt a WWII-style rationing program for goods, food and transportation.  This allows the developing countries to grow while maintaining the global carbon dioxide levels.  There you have it; the global warming hoax is no more than another ploy to redistribute the wealth globally.

When Irish eyes are crying.  Not too long ago, Ireland was the economic success story of Europe.  They cut taxes and regulations and their economy took off.  Now they had to get a bailout from the EU to keep from default.  Ireland imploded due to easy money, unsustainable social spending and large budget deficits.  Is the US of A heading down the same path?

Lame duck lameness.  The Democrats in Congress took a beating in the last election but have a couple of weeks before the end of the year to try some legislative shenanigans.  Will the Bush-era tax cuts be allowed to expire thereby raising taxes in 2011?  Will there be some big spending handouts to pet projects that could be cut when the Republicans take over in 2011?  Will they push the DREAM Act (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors Act) where illegal immigrant children get to stay if they finish college or join the military?  Will there be a giant omnibus spending bill to throw money across the board to the federal government and associated groups?  Can't they just wrap it up without showing more scorn for the will of the citizens who voted them out in large numbers?  Can leopards change their spots?

Time for Righteous Cynicism. The Air Resource Board of California overstated the amount of diesel pollution by 350% in order to push through additional regulations and this was reported by the San Francisco Chronicle. You might think it was a mistake or a bureaucratic snafu but the same bunch got caught doing the same thing with nitrous oxide previously. It's time to stop the fear mongers from government with their dishonest tactics that is used to seize more power; flush the establishment bureaucratic tyrants by electing new (tea party) representatives who will make this happen.

Protesting the tea party? Busloads of union devotees were sent to Washington D.C. to support the liberal agenda and to protest the Tea Party Movement. Tea Party principles are all about more freedom, less government involvement in everyday life and reducing taxes that support the unsustainable growth in government. So if the unions are protesting this, they stand for less freedom, more use of the heavy hand of government and more private money confiscation by government.

Another scheme. Recently Congress passed another alleged tax break program ($42 billion, I think) that is claimed to be a way to help small business. Small business organizations clearly stated that this bill was not wanted and that lowering the tax rate and eliminating regulation would be better. This program is really just another excuse to start another agency to manage the new law, to employ more people in fat government jobs for life and to pass out money to those politically connected.
